Peroid of Adjustment by Tennessee Williams

A little late posting this promo for a play I was in back in December, but since I was recently nominated for a Big Easy Award for Best Actor, I thought I’d put it on the blog here. I was an actor long before I ever began shooting or editing, but I’d not pursued it much over the last 15 years. When the opportunity to play Ralph Bates in the “serious comedy” by Tennessee Williams came along, I leapt at it. What an incredible experience.

Jones County Road: Lighting - a maker video

Los Angeles based lamp maker, Ryan Rogers, creates beautiful brass lighting fixtures.  The aim of this short piece is to show a bit of the process, tools and techniques that he uses when crafting a lamp, to get a glimpse of his studio in DTLA and his dog, Wylie, and to highlight the fact that all of the lamps are hand built by Ryan, himself-- and to do it in a fun, stylized manner.

Shooting in Southern California

You always hear stories about surfer/snowboarders who hit the mountains in the morning and the ocean in the evening, or vice versa.  And having access to such diverse topography in a relatively small area is a major bonus to living or working in Southern California.  This week I finally got to check that off my list, but for good measure we also through in a desert shoot in Palm Springs.  In less than 24 hours we shot in hyper-urban downtown Los Angeles, arid Palm Springs desert, snowy alpine forest in Lake Arrowhead and warm, sunny Venice Beach.  Amazing.  Helluva whirlwind, but well worth it.  Especially with a sweet Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) along for the ride.  We'll be rolling out the awesome footage we captured in three forthcoming projects for Jones County Road

New gear!

We're now shooting primarily on the Canon C100 Mark II.  This cinema camera travels well, performs great in low light, captures beautiful full-frame slow motion and will give our clients the rich, professional image quality they expect.  New lenses, mini-gimbal and Ronin (not pictured) to round out the gear upgrade.
