Jones County Road: Lighting - a maker video

Los Angeles based lamp maker, Ryan Rogers, creates beautiful brass lighting fixtures.  The aim of this short piece is to show a bit of the process, tools and techniques that he uses when crafting a lamp, to get a glimpse of his studio in DTLA and his dog, Wylie, and to highlight the fact that all of the lamps are hand built by Ryan, himself-- and to do it in a fun, stylized manner.

Jones County Road sizzle

Our goal with this brand identity piece for Jones County Road, a grooming products company in Southern California, was to create an atmospheric piece that would evoke the smells of the various soaps, oils and lotions they offer.   With names like "Woodsman", "Alpine", "Campfire", "Pacific" and "Wild" we decided a 24 hour road trip from the desert to the mountains to the beach would provide us with the visuals we needed to tell this story and conjure the mood and tone associated with the brand.  Here's the 2 minute version:

Director/editor: John Lavin
Narration: Ross Pirelli
Music: Ross Pirelli x 4th Floor
Words: Walt Whitman (from Song of the Open Road)

Shooting in Southern California

You always hear stories about surfer/snowboarders who hit the mountains in the morning and the ocean in the evening, or vice versa.  And having access to such diverse topography in a relatively small area is a major bonus to living or working in Southern California.  This week I finally got to check that off my list, but for good measure we also through in a desert shoot in Palm Springs.  In less than 24 hours we shot in hyper-urban downtown Los Angeles, arid Palm Springs desert, snowy alpine forest in Lake Arrowhead and warm, sunny Venice Beach.  Amazing.  Helluva whirlwind, but well worth it.  Especially with a sweet Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) along for the ride.  We'll be rolling out the awesome footage we captured in three forthcoming projects for Jones County Road

BLOODRUSH FILMS Named one of the top New Orleans production companies

Bloodrush Films has been named one of the top production companies in New Orleans by Agency List!  We know the videos we create are unique, attention-grabbing and impactful so it's great to be recognized for the work we do.

Agency List is a nation-wide organization dedicated to providing listing to the most reputable agencies per discipline in one spot.  Their process for inclusion isn’t biased by advertising dollars or what they describe as a “bias towards the biggest names.”  In addition to listing production companies, the list also includes SEO companies, web design firms, digital marketing agencies, advertising agencies, software developers and PR firms.

We are very proud to be included in the top agencies for New Orleans by Agency List.

Key West shoot for OUT Magazine

Had an incredible 4 day shoot in Key West going snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, dancing, dining, historical touring, sight-seeing and capturing beautiful images.  The 10 or so hours of great video we shot will be edited down to 4 x 1min episodes for the Florida Keys Tourism Board and OUT Magazine.  They will go live in January and will be linked to from this blog.

New gear!

We're now shooting primarily on the Canon C100 Mark II.  This cinema camera travels well, performs great in low light, captures beautiful full-frame slow motion and will give our clients the rich, professional image quality they expect.  New lenses, mini-gimbal and Ronin (not pictured) to round out the gear upgrade.
