Farewell, Dolly Parton

The great Dolly Parton has set sail over the horizon. She means a lot to me. 15 years ago I made a documentary about her and she granted us the rights to use 15 of her songs, royalty free. I’ll never forget that kind gesture. What an absolutely amazing person. Here’s the (somewhat dated) trailer for the feature documentary, Hollywood to Dollywood.

Dinner With Friends, by Donald Margulies

Final weekend of performances for Dinner With Friends in Blue Ridge 🍷 This has been one of the most challenging side quests I've tackled, namely due to the insane amount of memorization. Finding the emotional truth of the character came fairly easily; I'm not that different from Tom. But I'm so grateful to have taken this on as a big summer project and the reactions from our audiences have been amazing. This play will certainly qualify as misogi for 2026. I’ve said repeatedly: if Tennessee Williams or Edward Albee were writing today, it would look a lot like this play. What an awesome thing to be able to say these words and live through these emotions night after night for the past few months.

Dinner With Friends: August 6-23rd, 2026

Donald Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize winning play Dinner With Friends is funny, insightful, and deeply relatable, Dinner with Friends explores marriage, friendship, and the challenges of navigating middle age. It's the kind of show that sparks conversation long after the final curtain. If Tennessee Williams and Edward Albee were writing today, it might look a little something like this. With John Lavin, Jeremy Harrison, Christina Reynolds and Lauren Garner.

Music video collab with John Cameron Mitchell and Alynda Segarra

I’ve been a big fan of John Cameron Mitchell since I first saw him play Hedwig at the Jane Street Hostel— one of the very first shows I saw when I moved to NY many years ago. A mutual friend in New Orleans introduced us and he asked if I’d help with shooting a music video project. Of course I said yes. So in the dark days of Covid last year I shot some footage of the remarkable New Orleans based singer Alynda Segarra. I gave John the footage and he worked with animator Nathan Stassin to create this absolutely stunning piece of art.
